Bendigo Squadron
Female Section Camp
May 2010 five members of Bendigo Squadron attended the female section camp at Gilwell Park. Everyone was accomodated in the infamous bunk house style rooms. Some of the activities that the girls were involved in included biscuit decorating, canoeing, rope climbing and even card making. With their bellies full from Mrs Bakers (camp cook) fine cooking, they all sat around the camp fire telling spooky stories, having a sing along and keeping an eye out for Drop Bears (that`s another story).
These camps are a great way to meet and get to know other members of the Victoria Group as members that have huge distances to travel like Bendigo and Ballarat, don`t get to meet very often.

Community Fun Day
On 2nd May Bendigo Squadron was invited to a Community Fun Day at Bunnings Warehouse at Kangaroo Flat. This was a great chance to promote the Australian Air League and recruit new members.
We set up a display amongst other non profit community groups. There was a good attendance from the people of Bendigo to see our display and our Squadron in uniform.
We were very lucky, as Bunnings held a draw for 5 x $1000 donations, and we were the first group to be drawn out of the barrel where Group Operations Commissioner Russell Owen received the cheque from Jason from Better Homes and Gardens on behalf of Bendigo Combined Squadron.
We also have gained at least two new recruits from the day out. So it was a great success overall. Thanks to Mr Owen for travelling up to Bendigo on the day.
